Atika: Italy Guides

Support

Atika maps the 66,478 catalogued heritage sites of Italy — churches, palaces, castles, ruins, archaeological sites — using data from the national ArCo / ICCD catalog.

Frequently asked

The map shows me outside Italy. How do I get back?

Tap the "You're outside Italy — tap to explore!" banner near the top. It zooms back to the peninsula.

Where do the photos come from?

From the Italian Ministry of Culture's photographic archive (SIGECweb). About 6 in 10 catalogued sites have at least one photo.

Some sites have no description.

The national catalog only records descriptive text for ~4% of sites. We're enriching coverage via Wikidata in v1.1.

How do I save a site?

Tap any pin → tap the heart icon. Saved sites appear under Settings → Your activity → Wishlist.

Can I plan a multi-stop route?

Tap the route icon in the bottom-right floating menu. Add stops via search, drag to reorder, then open the route in Apple Maps or Google Maps for turn-by-turn.

Does it work offline?

The 66,478 sites and their metadata are bundled in the app and work fully offline. Photos load on demand and need a connection.
